Tessa Newcomb is a British painter who was born and continues to live and work in Suffolk. The daughter of the Modern British artist Mary Newcomb, she studied at Norwich School of Art, Bath Academy of Art and Wimbledon School of Art. Newcomb is known for her distinctive and atmospheric paintings of the Suffolk countryside and coast. Her subjects of everyday rural life, often combine humour, observation and a sense of quiet mystery. Her work celebrates ordinary moments, transforming familiar landscapes and encounters into intimate, evocative paintings. Newcomb has exhibited widely, including at the Royal Academy and Crane Kalman Gallery in London, and her work is held in public collections including the Whitworth Art Gallery in Manchester and Bradford Metropolitan Museum. She has also illustrated book jackets and published books exploring her art and inspirations.
